Side note: XLive Less changes the folder where the game saves are located, so if you want to use it, you have to copy them over from \\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames to\\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames. You might also want to check out the pcgamingwiki page because it goes over all this stuff as well. XLive Less will create some problems with the text in the menus that can be fixed at the bottom of this page [I never see that other Rockstar Games application now. (Search "msconfig" in the start menu>click msconfig.exe>Navigate to the "Startup" tab> scroll down and uncheck the applicationĬalled "Rockstar Games Social Club") and I avoided any issues with GFWL complaining about an obsolete version of GTA4 by installing XLive Less. If I recall correctly, I avoided all my problems with that Rockstar Social Club application by making it not open up at startup. I didn't encounter that problem myself, but my wild guess is that you deleted something you shouldn't have.Ĥ. Make sure you make backups and test the 1040 version once you downgrade. Not being able to change the settings is unusual. My specs aren't as good as yours and my performance is closer to that youtuber guy.ģ. The READ_ME simply says to copy gtxd.img to \.\SteamApps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV\pc\data\cdimages and overwrite whatever's already there.Īll the texture packs are roughly the same thing except for the metallic paint one in the "extra texures" pack which requires OpenIV to open an. The only tough part is downgrading to the 1040 version.įor the different texture packs, once you download and extract the files (again, in the link I placed above) you'll find a readme file which will tell you to simply replace a certain. Copy the contents of the 1040 folder into your GTAIV folder and click "Merge" and "Move and Replace" whenever it asks you about overwriting files. Once you extract it, there should be a readme file and a folder called "1040". Once you have downgraded to 1040, download the ICEnhancer mod ( mirrors [and make sure you get the 1040 version, which is the first download link listed on that page I just linked. When I followed that procedure, I made sure I made a backup of my vanilla 1070 game before I started downgrading and I made a backup of the 1040 once I finished, but before I installed ICEnhancer. This article [helped me go from 1070 to 1040 and worked perfectly for me. Is it like that for everyone, because to me that seems pretty annoying to have to do that everytime. Also, when I exit GTA IV (1040), the older social club is still running in the background and I have to manually exit out of it everytime so that steam doesn't think i"m still playing and so I can launch it again, or else steam will say the game is already running and fail. Then it would go back to the newest social club and do the same thing as the first time. Also when i launched 1040, I would get the new Rockstar social club pop up (newest one), then after selecting on or offline I would get the old version of social club asking me to accept TOS and login, again. I couldn't change GTA IV settings either in the menu (settings would instantly jump back to their old setting when changed). On YouTube, there's a video by CryZENx, who has a 4770K and a GTX 780 also, and he is able to get pretty much constant 50-60fps, while my first attempt at installing iCEnhancer 3.0 (which was a bit messy and probably didn't do it correctly) I was recieveing 20-30fps. I know there are articles out there detailing some of this stuff individually, but typicaly they are a few years old and I would like to hear from someone who has done the complete transition recently with the new iCEnhancer 3.0. Can anyone give me a recommended installation procedure (step by step) for going from GTA IV Steam Vanilla 1070 (no mods) to version 1040 and installing iCEnhancer 3.0.
